Water Motor Gong
Water motor gongs are fire alarm bells that don’t need electricity to operate. Instead, they’re physically triggered by water flowing through a fire protection system—making it easy to meet fire code requirements to sound a continuous alarm, even if electrical power is lost. They can be mounted on the wall or the alarm valve, regarding to their type.
Strainer is used in the line that connects to alarm valve or retarding chamber. Then water motor gong is assembled.

Wet Pipe Sprinkler Systems Principle Schema
When sprinkler (1) activated and water start flowing (2) flap of alarm valve lifts and water flows to alarm trim set,(3) then arrives to retarding chamber. (4) Retarding chamber fills with water in a matter of seconds, then pressure switch (6) activates electrical alarm followed by water motor gong’s (5) mechanical alarm.
